About me

  • I pursued my career in data science after completing my medical degree (MD)
and MBA in healthcare management from SDA Bocconi School of Management in
Milan, Italy (MIHMEP). I am passionate about advanced statistics and machine
learning applications in healthcare, I have developed a unique hybrid
background that combines both clinical medicine and data science. I have
spent the past several years immersing myself in big data and machine
learning applications in healthcare and my goal is to contribute to the
design, development, implementation, and adoption of artificial intelligence
    applications in healthcare.
Competitive Scholarship for MIHMEP at Bocconi University, Milan, Italy.
I have been highly engaged in the doctoral student development program at
Karolinska Institute and taught and supervised master students. I have taught
on health informatics, predictive analytics as well as on Statistical Process
Control analysis, systematic literature reviews, agile project management,
and business intelligence in healthcare at master’s level courses at
    Karolinska Institute.

Research

  • My Ph.D. project aimed to develop a predictive decision support model for
physicians to improve the management of clinical processes for patients with
multiple chronic conditions of concurrent cardiovascular/chronic kidney
diseases and diabetes by deploying machine learning algorithms. I have
developed a proof-of-concept model to predict hospital readmissions which
will be further developed into a decision support system to enable physicians
to manage these complex patients more proactively. The model was developed
using a large data set from the hospital's electronic medical records and the
national/regional patient registries (VAL Database). Given the failings of
many AI initiatives to move beyond proof-of-concept models, I have led an
experience-based co-design study at Danderyds Hospital to identify and
understand the needs and preferences of physicians and managers actively
    involved in treating these patients.
