How to install your Mac
When you receive your new Mac, or when your Mac has been reinstalled, you will need to set up your computer before you can use it. On this page you will find a guide on how to install your Mac. The user guide is intended for KI computers ordered via Wisum.

Before you start
- Keep your KI log in credentials at hand (KI email address, KI ID and your password).
- You need to have internet access to complete the installation.
- Connect the charger to your computer will running the setup session.
Set up - step by step
Settings
Start the computer.

Country
Start by chosing country. The country you choose determines the language settings and keyboard. You can change the language or keyboard settings in the next step.

Language
Check your language settings. Click on "Customise Settings" to make changes, otherwise click "Continue".

Wi-Fi Network
Connect to the internet, either via Wi-Fi or a network cable. If you are connected via a network cable, the window "Select Your Wi-Fi Network" will not appear.
Click "Continue".

Remote management
Allow KI to manage your computer. Click "Learn more about remote management" to learn more about which features can be centrally managed.
Click "Continue". Your computer will restart.

Timezone
Once the computer has rebooted, select the time zone. The IT Office recommends setting the time zone based on your current location. You need to turn on location services to automatically select time zones.
If you do not want to enable location services you can select and set the time zone manually.
Click "Continue".

Sign in to Microsoft
Sign in with your KI email address and password, and multi-factor authentication if you are prompted to do so.

Enter your password once again.

Touch ID
Set up Touch ID.
If you do not want to use Touch ID, or if you do not want to set it up right away, you can skip this step by clicking on "Set up Touch ID Later".

Look
Choose your look. This setting can be made later in "System Preferences".

Register your Mac
Enter your first name and last name, KI ID and your department/affiliation and click on "Register Your Mac".
In the following steps, applications and settings will be insalled. This will take at least 20 minutes, depending on whether there are major system updates that need to be installed.


Disk encryption FileVault
When the applications and settings have been installed, you will need to enter your password to enable FileVault disk encryption.
Sign in once again, either with your KI email address or simply with firstname.lastname and your password.

OneDrive
OneDrive is used to sync your Document Folder and Desktop to the cloud, as a security measure.
Once you have signed in, OneDrive will start automatically and you will be prompted to sign in with your email address.
If OneDrive does not open automatically, you can open it from the applications folder or search for OneDrive with Spotlight and open it from there.
Enter your password. If the two-factor authentication is activiated, Ange ditt lösenord. Om två-faktorsautentisering är aktiverad, approve the sign-in request.


Click "Next" in the new window.

We have already created the folders required for OneDrive to function properly, so simply click "Use This Folder" to proceed.
In this next step, a series of windows will appear, with inforamtion about OneDrive. Read the information and click on "Next" to proceed.


When you get to the last window of the series, the installation is complete and you are ready to go.
You can either close the window or click on "Open OneDrive Folder" to get to the folder that is being synced.
