Internal environmental audit 2022-2024
As a government agency, KI is obliged to have an environmental management system in accordance with the The Ordinance (2009:907) on Environmental Management in Government Agencies. The environmental management system requires internal environmental audits to be carried out each year.
The University Director has recently decided on a three-year audit plan. The idea is that each department and each division will be audited at three-year intervals. The audits will primarily be carried out during weeks 20-22. Each audit will take approximately 1.5-2 hours depending on the type of activity.
Purpose of the environmental audit
There are several purposes for carrying out environmental audits. According to the regulation, it is about ensuring that the university complies with the laws, rules and guidelines that exist for environmental work, but it is also an important tool for capturing how environmental work is done in the organisation: What works well? What is difficult? Where is there a need for support? Are we on the right track to achieving the goals of KI Climate Strategy 2030?The audits should be seen as an opportunity to discuss these issues with the auditor. The focus will be on how everyone is doing with environmental and climate work right now and how we can work forward from there.
Present at the audits will be the Head of Department/Administrative manager and the Environmental and Sustainability Representative. Depending on the activity, there may also be opportunities to meet with staff in other roles such as chemical officers and teachers.
