I am a visiting PhD student joining the Pete Williams Lab. My research focuses on testing the neuroprotective effects of pyrroloquinoline quinone in glaucoma.
I received my BSc in Biology and my MSc in Biology applied to Biomedical Sciences from the University of Pisa, Italy, studying the role of autophagy in retinal development in health and disease. After my post-graduate research fellowship at the University of Pisa, I achieved my current PhD position in 2020 at the Department of Biology, University of Pisa. I joined the Pete Williams Lab as a visiting PhD student and my research is based on studying the potential of pyrroloquinoline quinone as a neuroprotectant in glaucoma using microscopy, molecular and multi-omics analyses.
