About me

Ana Teixeira was born in 1974 in Vila Verde, Portugal, and in 1997 graduated from the Technical University of Lisbon (now University of Lisbon) with a degree in Chemical Engineering. She did doctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, and her dissertation on bionanotechnology was presented in 2003.

After performing postdoc work at Karolinska Institutet in 2003-2008, Teixeira has been leading a research team at KI since 2008. In 2018 she became Docent in Nanomedicine at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics.

Research description

The Teixeira Lab uses a multi-disciplinary approach including materials science, biophysics and cell biology to understand how cells interact with their microenvironment.
