Research description
Anders Ullén is a clinical oncologist with research focused within the area of genitourinary oncology – i. e. cancers of the genital and urinary systems. He is specifically driven by the goal to improve management and outcome for patients with advanced urothelial cancer.
Ullén’s research is typically translational and spans from preclinical studies to prospective clinical trials, with the goal of identifying treatment-predictive biomarkers and developing new therapeutic options and precision-based treatment approaches for these patients. Several new systemic treatments, such as chemotherapies, immunotherapies and targeted drugs, have been evaluated in prospective phase I – phase III trials, in different phases of the disease and in national and international collaborations with findings that are of relevance for everyday clinical practice. Furthermore, Ullén’s team is interested in how specific genetic aberrations and the spatial distribution of different cell types in the tumour influence therapeutic out- come and prognosis.
