About me

Professor of Medical Microbial Pathogenesis at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge since 2008.

Research description

Researchers in medical microbial pathogenesis study how microbes, primarily bacteria, cause disease. The research covers the interaction between bacteria and the infected person's immune defence, how the disease can be diagnosed and how it should be treated.

Anna Norrby-Teglund is researching a dramatic disease - streptococcus group A infection. In severe cases it can spread throughout the body in a matter of hours, causing tissue death, septicaemia and shock.
