Dr Ashwin Venkateshvaran is a postdoctoral researcher at the Karolinska Institute and a cardiac imaging specialist at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm. He received his PhD in Applied Medical Engineering (Medicine doktorsexamen) in 2016 from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. His thesis explored novel imaging and hemodynamic studies in rheumatic mitral stenosis.
Dr Venkateshvaran is well-published and is a recognized international educator in cardiac ultrasound. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography, and holds both European and American imaging credentials.

His current research revolves around novel imaging aspects in the setting of heart failure, pulmonary hypertension secondary to left heart disease and diabetes.
Academic honours, awards and prizes
Dr Venkateshvaran graduated top of his class during his first cycle university program, received the Young Investigator Award (YIA) from the Indian echocardiographic society in 2013 and an international Clinical Research award during the World Summit of Echocardiography in 2013. He became a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography in 2017.
