Research description

Current area of research includes

  • HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis,
  • Behaviour aspects of vaccine trials in low -income countries,
  • Migration and Health.

Has experience of working in different parts of Africa including Somalia, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda.

Teaching portfolio

I am a senior lecturer that has extensive experience in Global Health education and played key role in developing global health courses offered at IHCAR to full programmes both at master level (Master in Global health) and PhD level (World Health Programme).  Have been part of the team that established one of the first research schools with focus on global health for PhD students, The Research School for Global Health a unique collaboration between Umeå University and Karolinska Institutet.

  • MD degree from Somali National University, Mogadishu, Somalia.
  • Masters of Medical Sciences (Mr. Med. Sc) in Immunology of Infectious Diseases from Karolinska Institutet.
  • PhD in Immunology from Stockholm University.
