About me

Cecilia Williams is currently a visiting professor at Karolinska Institutet – besides her permanent position as professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Cecilia also holds an adjunct position at University of Houston. Williams received her PhD training in DNA sequencing technologies and the p53 tumor suppressor gene in the lab of Mathias Uhlén and Joakim Lundeberg at KTH. She moved to Jan-Åke Gustafsson’s lab at Karolinska Institutet in 2005, where she focused on the role of estrogen receptor beta in breast cancer. In 2009, she joined the Center of Nuclear Receptors and Cell Signaling at University of Houston as Assistant Professor and received a tenured Associate Professorship in 2015, before returning to a professorship at KTH. Her main activities at BioNut is focused at understanding hormonal signaling and the role of non-coding RNAs in cancer, and activities include the supervision of two doctoral students and collaborations with affiliated faculties specialized in nuclear receptors.
