Douglas Sjöwall's clinical affiliation is at Habilitation & Health, Stockholm, where he has a position as coordinator at the Unit for Research, Development and Education. His research affiliation is at Center for Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institutet, KIND and the department of Clinical Neuroscience.
The research conducted in our group involves cognitive functioning and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents and adults. More specifically, we examine the following aspects; 1) early cognitive deficits in relation to later behavior problems, 2) possible mediators in the link between ADHD symptoms and poor academic achievement, 3) the link between emotion regulation and ADHD, 4) the development of questionnaires and laboratory measures of executive functioning and emotion regulation.
Within the position as research coordinator at Habilitation and Health, research and development is also focused on psychoeducation for adults with Autism and their significant other, as well as implementation of health interventions for people with enduring disabilities.
Douglas manages a 7,5 hp writing course, “Specialization in Psychology”, at the psychology program at KI. In the Spring of 2020, he will give a lecture at master level at KTH with the title “The need for technical engineering and design competence in healthcare”.
