About me

I am a physiotherapist and PhD-student at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. I have been working as a clinician with older people within different fields of in-hospital care since 2009, and for several years as a clinical teacher for physiotherapy students. I have a master degree in clinical medical science with a focus on physical activity in older people with transient ischemic attack.

Research description

My current PhD-project aims to examine the association between preoperative physical performance and postoperative outcomes (such as complications and physical decline), and to evaluate the feasibility of a preoperative home-based exercise intervention in older people undergoing abdominal cancer surgery. The intervention places the older person in focus by a high-intensity, functional exercise program in the participant’s habitual environment. I believe in conducting research to enable everyday clinical decisions based on scientific evidence to provide the best care for older patients. In long-term I’m hoping to be able to create sustainable interventions that meet the complexity of older peoples’ health. One size might not fit all, particularly not in the heterogenic older population.
