Research description

Eva Serlachius is a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry, and as a researcher has concentrated on making the diagnosis and treatment process for mental ill-health in children and adolescents more accessible through internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (iCBT). Early detection and intervention are important for the treatment of young people with mental health issues but are hampered by limited resources and geographical distances. Since 2010, Serlachius has been developing and evaluating several iCBT treatments for children and adolescents for such problems as anxiety, OCD and depression. During this time, the research field has attracted more researchers, and today she collaborates a great deal with other national and international groups.

Serlachius is interested in the implementation of iCBT and its position along the care pathway. On account of her research, BUP Stockholm has created a specialized unit for iCBT in regular health care, where many of the treatments are now offered. She is also responsible for the education in child and adolescent psychiatry for prospective doctors at the medical programme.
