About me

  • Hana Taha is a senior Global Public Health Researcher (Associate Professor) in the Department of Neurobiology, Caring Science and Society (NVS) at Karolinska Institutet. Dr. Taha received a PhD in Public Health Sciences from Karolinska institutet, Sweden. She has expertise in teaching, curriculum development and public health programs leadership with USAID projects and leading NGOs in Jordan. Her multicultural background and technical expertise enabled her to accomplish success in assignments embracing Covid-19 surveillance and outbreaks investigations, health systems strengthening, gender equity and women empowerment, noncommunicable diseases, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and family planning in Syrian refugees’ camps in Jordan and Lebanon. Hana has a global perspective to public health, a wealth of international experience and in-depth knowledge of teaching using innovative adult learning techniques. She is a monitoring and evaluation expert, and her skills include: the development of M&E plans
  • designing M&E methods and setting key performance indicators
  • designing and implementing public health epidemiological studies using quantitative and qualitative research methods (SPSS, Stata, Nvivo).

Research

  • Dr. Taha published highly cited quantitative and qualitative studies about breast and colon cancer in Jordan. They were implementation Epidemiological and behavioral research that provided data for decision-making and aimed to enhance early detection of cancer in Jordan and in the Middle East region. Her research interests are: Global Health, Health Governance, Health policy reforms, Health system strengthening, Health promotion, Health programs and interventions assessment, Non- communicable diseases, health behavior and women’s health, Climate change, water and food security.

  • Dr. Taha has unique skills for developing effective teaching curricula and
    designing state -of- the- art public health courses for undergraduate and
    master programs.
