Neurologist with interest in Clinical research in Parkinson's disease & Ischemic Cerebrovascular Disease. Member of the Educational Council at the Academic Specialist Center in collaboration with KI.

About me

I am a neurologist with a special interest in Movement Disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease, and in clinical research. I am proud to be a member of the Parkinson-group at the Center of Neurology, Academic Specialist Center at Torsplan, where we provide team-based patient care. Several clinical studies are ongoing in our clinic, and patients have the possibility to participate in research projects.

Research description

In my research, I study the link between glucose control, diabetes, and Parkinson's disease (PD). My studies aim to investigate the effect of dysregulated glucose control on the progression of motor and non-motor symptoms in PD, to identify markers of glucometabolic derangement that may define subgroups of patients with targetable disease mechanisms, and to test the hypothesis that agents that improve insulin sensitivity may modify the disease course in PD.

Teaching portfolio

I serve as representative of the Center for Neurology (CfN) in the KI-Stockholm County Council collaboration for education and training (Utbildningsråd) and Director of medical students in CfN.

I co-supervise several doctoral students, and one post-doctoral fellow, and have supervised several Erasmus students and undergraduate students in their research projects (examensarbete).
