About me

  • I am a nuclear medicine physicist at Karolinska Institutet. My research focuses on clinical radionuclide therapy and therapy-related imaging, with a penchant for thyroid cancer.

I defended my PhD thesis "Avidity-guided Radionuclide Therapy for Thyroid Cancer" (https://openarchive.ki.se/xmlui/handle/10616/48165) at Karolinska Institutet in 2022. The thesis focused on mapping iodine avidity in papillary and poorly differentiated thyroid cancer and suggested ways to exploit this knowledge to guide adjuvant treatment according to pre-therapeutic avidity of cancer tissue.

I also work clinically at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Karolinska University Hospital, Solna. My clinical work consists of seeing patients, administering in- and outpatient radionuclide therapy, performing dosimetry and maintaining a well-functioning radionuclide therapy service. In addition to my clinical work, I lead the physics group at the department.

    Other professional engagements:
    - Member of the Swedish Radiation Emergency Medicine Centre at Karolinska Institutet (https://sremc-kcrn.org/), supported by the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare.
    - Member of the Medical Expert Group for Radionuclear Events, at the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare.
    - Member of the working group for Swedish national guidelines for thyroid cancer.

Research

  • Most of my research aims to:

    - Integration of other biological data, such as histology, immunohistochemistry and genetics, into patient selection, dosage and evaluation of radionuclide therapy

    - Evaluate new radionuclide therapy agents in clinical trials

    - Increase the clinical use of dosimetry, through simplification and linking doses to clinically meaningful predictions
