About me

Is since January 2019 working as a university lecturer at Karolinska Institutet, Division of Nursing, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society. In addition to long experience of training in nursing education and independent interprofessional courses at Mälardalen University (15 years) and at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University (3 years), I have a background as a nurse in elderly care and geriatric care. I am also a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist and have 10 years of experience from blood banking and transfusion medicine.

My main teaching and interest areas concern gerontology, geriatrics, and palliative care from an interdisciplinary perspective. I am also interested in existential health and aging in a multicultural and global perspective. Within these areas, I have developed and held courses at undergraduate and advanced levels and collaborated with teachers from universities in other parts of the world.

Research description

I have participated in research projects on registered nurses’ perceived aspects on working with evidenced based care when nursing frail older adults and in a project about the autonomy of older adults in home care. I am currently engaged in an educational research project in collaboration with a university in Thailand - Teaching Gerontology from a Global Perspective and in a project which involves a course assignment - Conversations on Death-Swedish Nursing Students Reflect on Existential Needs.
