About me

I am the head of the Heart Lab, Clinical Research Center, Karolinska Institutet at Huddinge. I am also a consultant in cardiothoracic surgery at Karolinska University Hospital with the focus area advanced heart failure and mechanical assist devices.

Research description

The Heart Lab is a translational lab focusing on cardiac progenitor cells and immunological tolerance induction.

Academic honours, awards and prizes


2003-     The Scandinavian Association of Thoracic Surgery conference (SATS) in Turku/ Suomi. Oral Presentation and awarded with the “C. Walton Lillehei Young Investigators Award”.


2003-     The Swedish Annual Cardiothoracic meeting in Stockholm. Oral Presentation and received the Limedic´s award for best presentation.


2010-    The Ingegerd and Viking Olov Björk Scholarship.
