About me
I am Senior Researcher working on a Forte-funded project Sustainable Working Life in Women and Men in Sweden. At KI, I am a member of the research group MENTE (Mental health and social integration). Outside of KI, I have honorary contracts with the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (Finland) and The Royal College of Surgeons (England), and am a collaborator in the IPD-Work (Individual-Participant Data Meta-analysis in Working Populations) Consortium.
Research description
My research focuses on using linked data from registers, audits and longitudinal observational studies to examine risk factors for chronic, non-communicable diseases and multimorbidity. I have experience of using large sets of individual-level data from several European countries, including Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom. My particular interest is approaches to evidence synthesis and meta-analysis in research areas where randomised controlled trials are unfeasible, unethical or impossible to conduct. Some examples of my work in this area include examining the health effects of psychosocial stress and vascular surgical interventions.
Teaching portfolio
I have a Post-graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (2017) and am Associate Fellow of the United Kingdom Higher Education Academy.
I have taught a number of post-graduate modules on research methods and statistics, and as a Stream Advisor been in charge of the structure, content and assessment of the Health Services Research Stream within the MSc Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In addition, I have taught lectures and seminars on approaches and statistical methods for meta-analysis, and supervised 10 MSc Public Health dissertations. I am interested in opportunities to supervise PhD projects in areas of evidence synthesis and longitudinal, register-based research.
