Kerstin Cederlund was qualified as a specialist in medical radiology 1991 and defended her thesis "Radiological imaging of pulmonary emphysema " at Karolinska Institutet 2002. Serve as Assistant Professor at Radiology Department at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge since 2003 and is responsible for the section of thoracic radiology.
ECG-triggered computed tomography of the heart Women undergoing invasive coronary angiography (ICA) are considered angiographically normal in 44 %. ECG-triggered computed tomography is a relatively new method for imaging of the coronary arteries. Studies show generally a high negative predictive value regarding evaluation of significant stenoses. Therefore we intend to study if investigation of women with chest pain might be improved by this less invasive technique. ECG-CT render it possible not only to evaluate the contrast-filled lumen but also the vessel wall. Calcified, as well as non-calcified plaques, and remodelling of the vessel wall can be detailed evaluated in vessels considered angiographically normal. This non-invasive technique render it thereby possible to study correlation of biomarkers reflecting inflammation, remodelling of extracellular matrix, lipid metabolism, chronic myocardial scarring, neurohormonally activation and cardiac function to the degree of coronary atherosclerosis measured by ECG-CT.
