About me
PhD student with a strong interest in addiction and social determinants of health, especially in African countries ("it's not black or white, it's 54 shades of gray").
My PhD project is about psychiatric epidemiology and alcohol use in Uganda, using a population-based cohort run by the Ugandan NGO Africa Medical and Behavioural Sciences Organization (AMBSO). Main supervisor is professor Anna Mia Ekström.
Other research projects include:
- Collaborations between traditional/faith healers and psychiatric services for people with severe mental illness in Uganda
- Part of an international collaboration on adolescent mental health which contributed to UNICEF's The State of the World's Children 2021 report
Besides the research, I work on-call duties as a junior doctor at the Stockholm Centre for Dependency Disorders.
