Doctoral student at the Department of Global Public Health. My background is in Occupational Therapy and I have a master's degree in Global Health from Karolinska Institutet. I have been working as the implementation manager for SMART2D, http://ki.se/en/phs/smart2d.
My PhD project is nested in the different stages of the project SMART2D (Self-Management Approach and Reciprocal learning for Type 2 Diabetes). SMART2D was a 5-year multi-country diabetes project based in Sweden, South Africa and Uganda (2015 - 2019). Community-based peer support was introduced in the study sites and community screenings were arranged to detect T2D and prevent the development of diabetes in high-risk groups. The four sub-studies of my PhD project are located in Sweden. The overarching aim is to understand the feasibility of implementing a self-management support intervention in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas in Stockholm.
