About me

I am a psychiatrist and PhD-student at the department of Global Public Health at Karolinska Institutet.

Research description

In my PhD-project, I use a combination of register-based and laboratory methods to investigate a potential relationship between inflammatory events during early life and the likelihood of neurodevelopmental conditions, in particular autism and intellectual disability. To assess the inflammatory status during pregnancy and the neonatal period, I analyze immune related proteins in archived biological samples from pregnant mothers (maternal serum samples) and their newborn children (neonatal dried blood spots). By using different family-based study designs, such as comparing twins or siblings, my aim is to better evaluate potential causal effects.
