About me
I am a clinical researcher. I graduated as a medical doctor in 1995 from Dhaka Medical College under Dhaka University, Bangladesh. I defended my thesis in 2003 at Karolinska Institutet.
I work as a senior consultant (överläkare) at the department of Neurology, Karolinska University Hospital. I am also head of research and Education, ME Neurology, Karolinska University Hospital.
Research description
I am a co-founder and chairman since 2019 of the SITS International which is an academic driven, ongoing, global registry for acute stroke. In the SITS registry, more than 350,000 stroke patients registered from more than 1400 centres. https://sitsinternational.org
I am coordinating investigator of Phase-III, multicentre, efficacy randomised controlled trial (I-Stroke II). http://www.istroke.org
My scientific activities involve acute treatment and secondary prevention of stroke. Being the group leader, my scientific activities involve in design & execution of clinical studies-both observational and interventional, participation in industry sponsored stroke trials, international connections with other research partners, etc.
Teaching portfolio
I have supervised 3 doctoral students as main and 4 doctoral students as co-supervisor and currently supervising one doctoral student as main supervisor.
I am course leader for the Neurology part of the physiotherapy course at Karolinska Institutet.
As a senior consultant in Neurology, I am involved in teaching of neurology residence doctors at the hospital in daily clinical practice. Supervise session 9 medical students who are placed at the neurological ward.
