About me

PhD in Public Health Science where I analyzed lone mothers´ health in differing welfare context, with a focus on social determinants of health. Trained in both qualitative and quantitative methods. Experienced lecturer in inequalities in health. My goal is to use my background in political science and public health to promote understanding of how societal factors affect health in different welfare states, especially for vulnerable groups.

Research description

Currently employed as health analyst at the Centre for Epidemiology and Community Medicine, Stockholm County Council, affiliated to Karolinska Institutet Department of Public Health Sciences, with on-going studies on health of parents in Sweden following separation. The focus is how child living arrangements such as alternate living may impact on health of parents and how this interacts with material and social circumstances. Also doing comparative research on health of lone mothers in different welfare states, and differential impact of economic crisis on health.

Teaching portfolio

As a lecturer, course leader and course designer, I have amongst others been involved in courses on Social determinants of health, Qualitative methods, Public health for nurses, and Social medicine for the medical students. Currently working with a doctoral course entitled “Public Health Research- concepts and theories”. Supervisor of several students at bachelor and master level. Coordinator of doctoral programme in Public Health.
