About me

Sharon Stone-Elander is a chemist and has since the late 1970s been involved in building up and developing the subject of PET radiochemistry at Karolinska University Hospital and Karolinska Institutet. The technology involves labeling molecules, such as carbohydrates, neurotransmitters, proteins and drugs with a radioactive isotope and then using a PET camera to study how these substances are distributed and metabolized in the body. In 2011, Sharon Stone-Elander became Professor of Translational Medical Radiochemistry at Karolinska Institutet.
