About me

  • Takahiro Seki (TS) is a research specialist and visiting associate professor at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, and Kagoshima University, Japan, respectively. TS is a member of Professor Yihai Cao's group at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology in Karolinska Institutet doing cancer and metabolism research. TS has been awarded JSPS doctoral research fellow scholarship, the Uehara Memorial Foundation, Yoshida Foundation for Science and Technology Research grant, Karolinska Institutet forskningsbidrag, Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation Research grant, Cancerfonden, and MTC paper of the year 2022. TS has published as the first or coauthor of more than 10 SCI papers, including one of the most prestigious scientific journals, Nature. TS won the MTC paper of the year in 2022. TS reviewed more than ten SCI journals, including Nature Communications. TS's experience extends to providing valuable scientific and technical guidance, fostering collaborative environments, and actively participating in experimental design and execution. TS's reputation as an outstanding academic is further underscored by invitations to serve as a Guest Editor and Editorial member for numerous SCI international journals and an extensive record of peer-review contributions, including Nature Communications. TS has cultivated strategic research partnerships with esteemed experts in Sweden, China, and Japan, leveraging their expertise, genetic mouse models, comprehensive omics analyses, and research facilities when needed. In addition to research commitments, TS has previous experience as a practical supervisor for Ph.D. students in Japan and has exhibited educational leadership by supervising more than five international students in bachelor's and master's programs. These experiences have equipped TS to mentor and educate a broader spectrum of higher-education students.
