About me

  • Received my Master of Science in Computer Technology Engineering at Royal Institute of Technology and PhD from Karolinska Institutet. I have over fifteen years' experience from the life science industry and have held various roles, with a particular focus on pre-clinical and clinical studies and trial applications, including administration of applications and reporting to and communication with medical agencies such as, for example, the American pharmaceutical authority - FDA and Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency - PMDA.

Research

  • The central focus of my doctoral research was to innovate within the medical device technology sector, concentrating primarily on the development and validation of novel adjunct diagnostic tools for dermatological applications. This entailed large multicenter trials with the intention of formulating a sophisticated classifier capable of distinguishing between benign skin anomalies and malignant melanoma. A crucial component of this endeavor was to assess the safety and efficacy of the developed techniques.

As the research progressed, inconsistencies emerged between the established literature on the electrical properties of skin and our experimental observations. This discrepancy necessitated a strategic shift in our research objectives, integrating mathematical modeling and experimental procedures to derive more accurate and realistic electrical properties of skin. This alignment not only served to enhance the precision of our diagnostic tool but also contributed to the broader understanding of the biophysical characteristics of skin in medical applications.

Building on this foundation, my current research pursuits are positioned at the intersection of medical device technology and Cranio-Maxillofacial reconstruction. The aim is to systematically scrutinize the potential complications and clinical outcomes associated with these reconstructive procedures, with a commitment to elevating the standard of patient care. This involves a comprehensive analysis of various calcium phosphate compositions and synthetic implants as well as cryopreserved autologous bone, delving into the intricacies of their mechanisms of action to better understand their role and performance in clinical settings.

By intertwining the development of innovative medical device technologies with a deepened understanding of their underlying mechanisms, my research endeavors contribute to the progressive evolution of medical practice, ultimately striving to enhance patient outcomes and safety across various medical disciplines.
