About me

Associate Professor Vanja has a background in Nursing (RN) and Public Health (MPH) with PhD in Global Health from Karolinska Institutet.  Vanja has a position as senior lecturer at the division of Caring, the Department of Neurobiology, Caring Science and Society (NVS) at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Her main field of research is Sexual and reproductive health and rights within and susitainable development, please see publication list following.

    Examples of current research projects

    • Maternal health in South Africa and in Sweden. A collaboration on health seeing behavious in Limpopo District as part of the South African - Sweden University Forum (SASUF)
    • Women, Migration and health. Collaboration with Durban University of Technology, also part of the South Africa Sweden University Forum (SASUF)
    • Health system and maternal health - capacity building collaboration with Limpopo University in South Africa (SAMRC-Forte)
    • Prevention of Female Genital Mutilation after immigration to Sweden. A National Research Network. (Forte)
