Training course in Practicing performance management dialog 2
Salary setting for members in trade union confederation Saco-S and for employees that are not members of a trade union is conducted through a dialog in which the manager and the employees are to agree up on a new salary instead of the trade union and the employer.
The purpose of performance management dialog 2 is to get a clearer dialog on salary setting. Both the manager and the employee are involved since they obtain the greatest knowledge of what has been achieved during the year. To be able to carry out the dialog, the employees in a managerial/leadership role is to participate in the leadership course that Karolinska Institute organizes. The leadership course is a half day course that obtains a theoretical part centered around Karolinska Institutes salary setting process and then a practical part where the precipitants trains with actors in small groups. There are 4 training courses during the spring of 2021 (3 in Swedish and 1 in English).

The purpose of the course is to gain an understanding of salary setting criteria and the salary setting process at Karolinska Institutet and increase your ability to provide clear feedback in the salary discussion situation.
The course is for employees in a managerial/leadership role, both for research/education- and technical/administration staff, who will be conducting salary setting discussions.
Interactive theatre is an enjoyable and focused work method where the participants train the kind of discussion situations that managers have to face ahead of the annual salary setting discussions with their employees.
The course begins with an introductory and theoretical part centred around Karolinska Institutet’s salary setting guidelines. This is followed by training with actors in small groups where the actors play the parts of employees in different salary discussion situations (cases). The observers among the participants learn by watching and experiencing the dynamics of the discussion, what works and what does not work. Watching a discussion as a performance clarifies and generates insights that would otherwise be lost. The observers are asked to formulate their experiences and put into words the chain of events that unfold during each discussion. The ‘manager’ in the exercise is asked to reflect on and put his/her experience into words. The actors give their feedback on the discussion: how they experienced it, what opened it up, what brought it to a standstill, etc.
The course is executed and arranged by the Human Resources Office at Karolinska Institutet in cooperation with Solvere. Solvere is a training company that uses interactive methods oriented towards communication and interaction between people. Solvere provides customised performances/concepts in a range of themes.
