About me
I am an assistant professor in Global Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, a midwife and an abortion provider at Karolinska University Hospital. I have a masters degree in Global Health and my PhD thesis focused on access to and quality of post abortion care in Uganda, focusing on young women and topics such as task sharing, midwifery, reproductive agency and respectful care https://openarchive.ki.se/xmlui/handle/10616/46753.
As a postdoctoral researcher I continued focusing on these topics in different settings, including Uganda where we have an ongoing trial, and began working more towards self-managed medical abortion. My current research lies mainly within the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights with a focus on improving access to and quality of abortion and contraception. For instance, I am the PI for a research project in Argentina focusing self-managed community-based abortion that we conduct together with CEDES and CREP in Argentina, the WHO, Geneva and RIVM in the Netherlands. In addition, I have a special interest in implementation science and have studied implementation processes relating to TM for medical abortion in Colombia and South Africa. I currently lead the process evaluation for the project QUALI-DEC (https://www.qualidec.com/en/home-en/) in the department of Global Public Health. I use both quantitative and qualitative research methodology and have worked on numerous systematic reviews as a consultant for the WHO, Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research, and through my employment at KI.
