Research description
My research aims to advance the knowledge on how environmental and nutritional factors influence health during the first decades of life, in particular development of asthma and allergies. The majority of the research is conducted within the prospective cohort BAMSE where 4,089 children have been followed repeatedly from infancy (1994-1996). Extensive information on exposures and health are available from questionnaires, clinical examinations and blood samples.
My research focus on health effects of second hand tobacco smoke, indoor environment, obesity and diet. The overall aim is to identify environmental and nutritional factors that can be targeted for disease prevention efforts in patients with asthma and allergies, as well as in the general population. Health risk assessment is an important part of the activity of the research group.
