About me
I am a doctoral candidate in epidemiology in Professor Catarina Almqvist Malmros research group at the Department of Medical Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet, and licensed physician training in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine at Karolinska University Hospital, Solna.
My PhD studies focus on epidemiological aspects of type 1 diabetes mellitus including early-life origins, childhood comorbidities, and adult outcomes. The research projects combine nationwide Swedish healthcare-, demographic-, quality-, and twin registers and span a range of epidemiological methods, such as family-based design and genetic epidemiology.
Other research interests lie at the intersection of pediatrics, obstetrics, anesthesiology and intensive care medicine; for instance, drug utilization and safety during pregnancy, and risk factors or outcomes of maternal morbidity/mortality and adverse perinatal events, as well as developing and using methods for causal inference with observational data.
Additional professional interests include medical education; I teach epidemiology/scientific development and professional development, co-supervise master thesis projects and mentor medical students, all in the medical programme at Karolinska Institutet.
