2015 I concluded my PhD at Örebro University, Sweden with a thesis about physiotherapy and behavioral management of problematic person transfer situations in dementia special care units. Title: Exploring dementia care dyads’ person transfer situations from a behavioral medicine perspective in physiotherapy: Development of an assessment scale
I hold a Ph.D.in medicine with the specialty in health and caring science. I'm currently a research coordinator at Karolinska Institute in a project named MIND-AD. My primary area of expertise is in behavioral medicine and dementia disease. I graduated as a physiotherapist 2009. My dissertation work involved development of an assessment scale for exploring problematic transfer situations in dementia caregiving situationsand the research focuses on the biopsychosocial factors related to phsyiotherpy and mobility in dementia disease. My current research investigates both the theoretical and practical knowledge of the pre-clinical dementia and a multimodal intervention (MIND-AD) as well as sever dementia and its complexity for health care personnel. To maximizing outcomes of interventions I want to understand the behvior theoretically and apply theory to intervention development and evaluation, and to evidence synthesis.
The MIND-AD project is based on experiences and data from five ongoing European intervention studies on AD/dementia prevention, including FINGER (Finland), MAPT (France), PreDIVA (Netherlands), LiPIDiDiet (Germany, Finland, Netherlands, Sweden) and HATICE (Finland, France, Netherlands, Sweden) studies. All these trials are testing the effects of multimodal interventions targeting vascular, dietary, and lifestyle-related risk factors in non-demented older adults. The novel approach of this project consists of multi-domain interventions, inclusion of novel models of delivery (e.g. computer-based cognitive training, medical food), critical feedback from trial participants, and synergistic use of data from several European countries with over 10,000 participants. Furthermore, a pilot study will be conducted in which a multimodal preventive intervention will be tested for the first time in prodromal AD (i.e. individuals whose memory has declined more than can be explained by ageing alone).
One year before coming to Karolinska University I worked at Mälardalen University as a lecturer with teaching and research. - 2011 Magisterexamen i Sjukgymnastik, Uppsala Universitet - 2009 Kandidatexamen i sjukgymnastik, Mälardalens högskola
