About me
I am an associate professor of surgery and a reconstructive plastic surgeon, working as Head of the Breast Unit at Södersjukhuset, Stockholm.
With a background in clinical epidemiology and surgical outcomes research, my current research is focused on clinical outcomes after surgery for breast cancer, sarcoma, and lower limb trauma, as well as epidemiological studies in the same areas. I supervise PhD students and I teach scientific methodology at Karolinska Institutet.
Research description
2023 - Associate professor of surgery at the Department of Clinical Science and Education, Södersjukhuset (KI-SöS). Clinical and epidemiological research within the field of breast cancer, sarcoma, and lower limb trauma.
2022 - Independent researcher at the Department of Clinical Science and Education, Södersjukhuset (KI-SöS). Clinical and epidemiological research within the field of breast cancer, sarcoma, and lower limb trauma.
2017 - 2021 Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK). Clinical and epidemiological research within the field of reconstructive plastic surgery, focused on malignant melanoma, pressure ulcer surgery, and gender affirmation surgery.
2013 - 2017 PhD in Epidemiology at the Department of Medicine, Solna (MedS). Epidemiological research focusing on myeloma and precursor state monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). For my PhD studies I received the MD/PhD scholarship (CSTP) at Karolinska Institutet.
Teaching portfolio
As an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) I am the course coordinator and examiner for the course in Medical Scientific Methodology, semester 5, Study Programme in Medicine. I am also the coordinator of a group of students in the Degree Project in Medicine course, semester 8, and an examiner in the same course.
I have several years of experience in teaching, spanning from teaching anatomy and neuroscience to medical students, to clinical teaching in medical science and surgery. I have previously been a teacher in interprofessional learning (IPL) at KI, as well as in anatomy and neuroscience for undergraduate students.
