About me

I  am an associate professor in epidemiology and employed as a senior lecturer at the Department of Global Public Health, in the research group Epidemiology and Public Health Intervention Research Epidemiology (EPHIR).

My main area of research is the epidemiology of public health problems, and a particular focus has been placed on cardiovascular diseases, injuries and sickness absence, and much of my research involves the study of short-term acting risk factors. My research projects are based on interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaborations, both within KI and internationally.

  • Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and psychosocial factors 
  • Newly initiated pharmacotherapy and unintentional poisoning in older adults -assessment of the short-term risks and identification of high-risk groups.

  • Cellphone use and law compliance on the road in low-income settings: Studies on practice, individual and societal determinants in Maputo city, Mozambique

  • Medical conditions and road traffic crash - national register-based studies among older drivers

  • Medical interventions and cardiovascular diseases

  • Pharmacist-led Home Medication Review in Community-Dwelling Older Adults in Saudi Arabia

Teaching portfolio

Most of the teaching activities I have been and I am currently involved in are within the field of epidemiology, with focus on epidemiological methods and analyses of epidemiological data.
