About me
I am an Assistant Professor at the NVS department, in the Division of Neurogeriatrics.
My main interest is to unravel the mechanisms affecting synaptic networks that condition cognitive decline in the early progression of neurodegenerative diseases. My goal is to evaluate basic pathogenesis and pharmacological interventions in psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases using ex vivo electrophysiological approaches in combination with transcriptomic, morphological, and behavioral techniques in animal models.
Research description
My research is focused on the synaptic interactions of neuronal cell types with microglial cells and how these interactions are affected by neurodegenerative diseases. In the lab, we use animal models of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and brain irradiation to decipher these fundamental questions.
