Research description

New treatment strategies to prevent bone growth impairment and osteoporosis in children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a lethal muscle disease and is the most common type of muscular dystrophy in childhood. Besides immobility these patients often suffer from persistent growth retardation and osteoporosis with fractures. I study the complex pathophysiology of bone disorders in this desease. I also use different model systems of muscular dystrophy to study the efficacy of  potential drugs to improve the bone health in these patients.
