About me

  • My research strives to investigate the relationship between mental health outcomes in neurodevelopmental disorders with genetics and self-awareness of the underlying etiology. Aside from my doctoral studies, I am also a resident in psychiatry working at North Stockholm Psychiatry. I am a part of Tammimies group, Center of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institute (KIND), Department of Women's and Children's Health.

  • Education:

    • 2023 - now: Doctoral studies at Karolinska Institutet
    • 2016 - 2019: Linköping University (Medical Degree)
    • 2014 - 2015: University of Manchester (MBChB with European Option) - completed first year of clinical medical studies
    • 2011 - 2014: University of St Andrews (BSc Medicine Hons) - preclinical medical studies

Research

  • My research focuses on neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), such as autism and developmental language disorder (DLD), which are lifelong and highly heritable conditions often associated with overlapping symptoms. Early identification and intervention are crucial due to the high risk of future mental health issues like anxiety and depression.

  • In my doctoral project, I aim to address three main areas:

    1. Investigating the opinions on genetic research among autistic adolescents, adults, and parents in Sweden to understand their concerns and aspirations.
    2. Examining the genetic knowledge and impact of genetic information and counseling on adolescents and young adults with autism, with a focus on mental health outcomes.
    3. Assessing mental health outcomes among individuals with DLD, screening for anxiety and depression and exploring potential genetic determinants.
