Lecturer at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Science and Society, PhD in Medical Sciences (epidemiology and biostatistics), Registered Physiotherapist with a specialisation in Orthopedic Manual Therapy
I gained my degree in physiotherapy from Karolinska Institutet in 1987 and have until 2008 worked as a clinician focused on orthopedic manual therapy and sports medicine. In 2008 I started my doctoral studies in the Health Care Sciences Postgraduate School, registered at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, KI, and defended my thesis titled “Back and neck pain. Factors of importance for the prognosis” in 2013. My PhD is in the area of epidemiology and biostatistics.
Since 2011 I hold a position as a lecturer at the Division of Physiotherapy mainly teaching and supervising in the physiotherapy bachelor program but also in master level courses.
My research has so far been focused on factors related to back and neck pain prognosis both in a public health as well as a clinical perspective. Furthermore, I have a special research interest in physical activity, healthy lifestyle and sports medicine. I´m currently holding a part time post doc position (60%) in the MUSIC research team (Musculoskeletal & Sports Injury Epidemiology Center), Unit of Intervention and Implementation Research for Worker Health, IMM, KI. The post doc project “Long-duration troublesome back and neck pain, and psychological distress – identification of modifiable factors affecting risk and prognosis” is financed by AFA and led by professor Eva Skillgate.
My teaching areas are musculoskeletal disorders, physical activity/exercise, sports medicine and medical sciences (epidemiology and biostatistics).
