It will be the sixts summer school for PhD -students at the Baltic network in personal care on 13-15 of June at Western Norway Univerity, Bergen, Norge

 

The purpose of the Summer School 

 

The purpose of the BSRN Summer school for PhD candidates is to learn new aspects of health sciences and present and obtain feedback on their assignments in a supportive peer atmosphere.

 

The 2022-topic focus on how health care can be re-designed as a response to potentially contradictory calls for standardized clinical pathways and personalized services.

 

Moreover, the purpose is to strengthen the collaborative Baltic Sea Region network.

 

Benefits

The extent of the PhD Summer school is three (3) ECTS credits and a certificate of participation will be given to student at the end of Summer School.

 

There is no participation fee, but travelling and accommodation costs need to be covered by the participants. You can apply for a travel grant here if you are elected. 

 

PhD-students who want to attend, must apply via the BSRN contact person at their own institution, which in this case i PUF-V. 

 

The Baltic Sea Region Network in Personalized Health Care is a multi-disciplinary and cross-national network of the universities of the countries of the Baltic Sea Region, which are:

Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden

Klaipeda University, Klaipeda, Lithuania

Medical University of Gdansk, Gdansk, Poland

Rīga Stradiņš University, Riga, Latvia

Southern Denmark University, Odense, Denmark

University of Lübeck, Lübeck, Germany

University of Tartu, Tartu, Estonia

University of Turku, Turku, Finland

Vilnius University, Vilnius, Lithuania

Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Bergen, Norway

 

Five students from each university can attend. Notice of admittance are communicated in the middle of March and the students are asked to send in two assignments (see below) that will be the basis for group discussions during the summer school. More detailed info will follow at the end of March.  

 

Student presentations

Students are asked to write two preliminary assignments:

1. How can we re-design health care services to meet contemporary challenges, e.g., Covid or Non-Communicable Diseases NCDs? (1000-1400 words)

2. How can we understand and meet the potentially contradictory expectations for standardized clinical pathways and personalized services? (1000-1400 words)

Preliminary readings and more detailed instructions for the assignment will be provided for the students by the end of March 2022.
