The process of work shortage

Below you find information about the workflow in the event of a shortage of labor.
The fact that there is a shortage of work does not usually mean that there is a shortage of work tasks, but it occurs mainly in the event of insufficient financing or if for some reason it is decided that certain work tasks are no longer to be performed.

Matters concerning redundancy due to lack of work are handled within KI by HR at the department in close collaboration with the negotiation unit at the central HR department. The picture of the process that you find under "documents" describes how a work shortage process is carried out. It is a laboriously cumbersome, time-consuming and costly process, so it is of great importance that the process begins early through a dialogue with the central HR department.

Decisions on necessary staff reductions at one department must always be preceded by an operational analysis (see template in Swedish below). It later forms the basis for the HR director's decision to initiate labor shortage negotiations. For more information, see guidelines below under documents.

The Job Security Foundation

The "Avtal om omställning" is a collective agreement for the public sector that aims to facilitate the adjustment work for employers and affected employees in the event of redundancies due to lack of work or on termination of a fixed-term employment that has lasted for at least two years. The Job Security Foundation assists in this adjustment work. It is the employer who reports the employee to the Social Security Foundation. When the application is confirmed, the employee will be contacted by the Security Foundation.
