Questions and answers about KI:s employee survey 2026

On this page, you will find answers to frequently asked questions about the employee survey at KI.

About the survey

The employee survey is conducted to listen to how you, as an employee and staff member, experience the organisational and social work environment at KI. Since it is conducted approximately every three to four years, the purpose is to obtain an overall picture of KI's organisational strengths, common challenges, and broader areas for development.

The employee survey will be conducted between March 30 and April 17.

All staff members who are part of KI's work environment should participate, with the exception of students. All staff members are included, even those on parental leave or sick leave. Scholarship-funded doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers may be included. Affiliated staff may be included according to local decisions.

The recommendation is that staff members should have worked at KI for at least 6 months and have a 40% employment rate, but this is decided at the respective department or institution level.

No, responding to the survey is optional. Your participation is important for KI to obtain an accurate picture of how employees experience the organisational and social work environment at KI. The more people who participate, the better the basis KI will have for making well-informed decisions to improve and develop the work environment.

No, it is not mandatory to answer all questions in the survey.

The employee survey will be available in both Swedish and English.

The survey covers the recommendation rate (eNPS), i.e. how likely you would be to recommend KI as a workplace, as well as four index areas: Collaboration, Leadership, Organisation, and Goals & Strategies. In addition to the index questions, there are questions about health and wellness, sedentary work, core values, and a sense of unity and cohesion. In total, the survey consists of 46 main questions and four questions specific to doctoral students.

The survey will be sent to your KI email address on 30 March. Three reminders will also be sent on Monday, 6 April, 13 April, and 16 April.

About the result

Once the survey has been completed, the results will be presented at the institution, department and, in some cases, unit level, depending on the size of the units. To ensure anonymity, the guideline is that a group should not be smaller than approximately 20–25 people. In this year's setup, we are therefore focusing primarily on the department and division level, which enables more effective and forward-looking work where we can identify broader patterns and common organisational factors to develop together.

After the survey period, the results are processed at several levels with the aim of developing an action plan at both the operational level (department or equivalent) and a plan for the entire KI.

Primarily at department or division/unit level for larger parts of the organisation. If anonymity can be ensured and the results remain meaningful, the data may be broken down further. HR will then make an individual assessment first.

When results are broken down into small groups – often 5–10 people – it becomes more difficult to ensure anonymity.

Breaking down the results at more general levels thus provides greater protection for employees' privacy, as the results are not linked to smaller groups where individuals risk being identified by, for example, gender, role, type of employment or other unique combinations of background variables. At the same time, the broader analysis base makes it easier to see common patterns and overall areas for development in the business.
