Faculty Forum

The Faculty Forum is a recurring meeting place for teachers and researchers at Karolinska Institutet, intended to strengthen academic dialogue, create space for strategic discussions, and give the faculty a clearer channel for input to the teacher representatives in KI’s decision-making bodies.

The next Faculty Forum takes place on 23 November, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Please register no later than 16 November as the number of places is limited.

The forum is a space for reflection, discussion, and joint exploration of issues that are important for KI’s long-term development, not a meeting for decisions or information.

The teacher representatives on the Faculty Board have overall responsibility for the forum’s direction and programme. The work is carried out in dialogue with teacher representatives from the committees and other relevant bodies.

Direction and content

The Faculty Forum should provide space for both free academic discussion and more structured conversations on overarching issues.  Input from the academic community and current issues set the agenda.

The issues discussed should be relevant to the whole or large parts of KI. The forum does not deal with individual cases or issues concerning only specific departments or groups.

Meeting format

Each meeting focuses on a limited number of main issues to allow plenty of time for discussion. Supporting materials should be brief and clear and, where necessary, supplemented with a short introduction by a subject expert.

The forum will be held across different campuses to facilitate broad participation. The forum’s working language will be English, but it will be possible to speak in Swedish.

Input from the forum is documented briefly by the teacher representatives and passed on to the Faculty Board. Feedback will be provided at subsequent meetings on how previous input has been addressed.
