Screencasting

Getting started with screencasting doesn't need to be difficult. You can create resources for the Flipped Classroom on your own computer.

The ScreenPal license will be discontinued at KI on 29 March

The license ends on 29 March. After this date, ScreenPal will no longer be available as a licensed tool via KI. After the license ends you will no longer have access to ScreenPal paid/team features via KI and your account will be reverted to a free ScreenPal account, with free-plan limitations (e.g. 15-minute recording limit, bandwidth limits for playback, and no access to the Video Editor tools).

How to save your content and how to continue using ScreenPal

Learn more about how to continue using ScreenPal with a different license, or how to download videos stored in ScreenPal’s cloud service, here. We recommend downloading any important content by March 29.

Canvas Studio is a Recommended Replacement Tool

Note: Users are encouraged to start using other tools—such as Canvas Studio (available via Canvas) or Clipchamp—as ScreenPal will be phased out in early 2026.

Screenpal

Screenpal (Screencast-o-matic) is a simple tool which can create screencasts as well as video and/or sound recordings. When you have finished your film, you can upload it to Canvas, or another service such as KI Play or YouTube.

If you use KI's version of Screenpal, you get access to an improved version which has better functionality with regards both recording and editing.

Log in to Screenpal

Here you will find a link to more instructions for how to Getting started with Screenpal via the KI campus license and how to use the web service and the screen recording program.

Kaltura Capture

Kaltura Capture is a program which you download and install on your own computer. The functionality is similar to Screencast-o-matic, but you can download directly to KI Play if you are logged in with your KI-ID. Read more on Kaltura Capture in Canvas.

Accessible video

To make your recordings accessible for a wider group of viewers, we recommend that you create captions for your films. For tips on this: Screenpal's own support page on adding captions.
