AI-lyftet for administrative and professional support at KI
AI-lyftet is a programme aimed at developing AI expertise within Karolinska Institutet’s professional services functions. The aim is to promote safe, responsible and value-adding use of AI within the organisation.

The initiative includes training courses, workshops and in-depth sessions for both staff and managers. AI-lyftet is divided into three modules and will begin with a major kick-off event on 22 September 2026 in Aula Medica.

AI-lyftet programme content
AI-lyftet consists of several components which, together, provide guidance, practical knowledge and long-term support.
The initiative begins with a kick-off event for everyone in professional support and focuses on the opportunities and future prospects offered by AI.

Joint training sessions and practical exercises spread over two half-day AI Bootcamps. You can register for two sessions of your choice – one during Part 1 and one during Part 2. Module 1 will provide you with:
- An introduction to AI and generative AI.
- A basic understanding of language models and AI tools.
- Practical application of AI in the workplace.
- An introduction to prompting and AI labs.

Workshops designed to suit different areas of operation and needs within KI. The focus is on:

Long-term support
To accelerate AI adoption, strengthen AI capabilities across KI and foster a culture of curiosity, courage and confidence in the AI transformation, ambassadors will be appointed. The role of ambassador involves, amongst other things, running AI labs and practical exercises within their team or area of operation, and sharing knowledge, insights and experiences from the programme.

AI ambassadors
The initiative is supported by a network of AI ambassadors from different parts of KI. The aim of the ambassador programme is to:
- Accelerate AI adoption and AI maturity within KI
- Create a culture of curiosity, courage and confidence
- Build internal capacity and disseminate knowledge
- Support colleagues in the practical application of AI
The ambassadors act as local points of contact and provide support within their departments by:
- Running their own AI labs and workshops
- Sharing experiences and knowledge
- Participating in networks and knowledge-sharing initiatives

AI-lyftet includes specific activities for managers and leaders. The aim is to:

Frequently asked questions about AI
Yes, AI may be used to support work within the framework of KI’s regulations and guidance.
External AI tools may be used provided they do not process personal data or sensitive information and their use complies with KI’s regulations.
Often, no disclosure is required if AI has only been used as a support tool and the content has been reviewed by a human. Disclosure may be relevant in the case of external publication or when AI has played a decisive role.
AI may be used as a support tool, but unpublished research data must not be fed into external tools.
The person who uses or publishes the content is always responsible for the outcome.
