The main access point to the university's public documents is the register. For questions, contact the registrar.
The parts of the university's public documents that have been archived are listed in an archive inventory system. For questions about the content, contact the archive.
Certain types of documents may be listed in various specialized systems. Which documents and which systems this concerns are outlined in the university's document management plan.

Confidentiality Provisions
Karolinska Institutet's broad range of activities means that large parts of the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (OSL) may be applicable to the university's documents.
Common grounds for confidentiality (with reference to OSL in parentheses) include:
tenders and procurement (19:3)
individual's health condition (21:1)
collaborative research (24:5)
transfer of confidentiality when information for research purposes is obtained from another authority (11:3)"
Information provided to or obtained from other authorities
In the field of education, the university regularly obtains information from other authorities, such as: the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Migration Agency, and other universities.
The university also provides personal data to other authorities, such as: the Swedish Board of Student Finance, the Swedish Migration Agency, and Statistics Sweden (SCB).
The university only provides such information that we are entitled to disclose according to the Ordinance (1993:1153) on the reporting of studies, etc., at universities and colleges.
In the HR area, information about employment and sick leave is regularly provided to SCB.
In the financial area, information is regularly provided to, for example: SCB, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Higher Education Authority, and the Government Offices
Technical aids
Comprehensive search tools that individuals can use themselves are not available, partly due to data protection reasons.
