Create video content in Canvas Studio
Canvas Studio is available through the global menu in Canvas. The tool is designed for teachers, course administrators, and students, offering an easy way to create and use video content. You can start using Canvas Studio today to create video assignments for your students. Additionally, you can create interactive quizzes directly in Studio to make learning more engaging.
Migration of videofiles to Canvas Studio
The migration from Kaltura to Canvas Studio has now been completed. This means that Kaltura videos that were previously embedded in Canvas have been replaced with corresponding videos in Canvas Studio.

Benefits of Canvas Studio
Canvas Studio makes it easy for teachers and course administrators to collaborate on course videos, from creation and sharing to captioning and publishing in Canvas.
The tool helps meet accessibility requirements by providing automatic captioning that can easily be reviewed and published by multiple members of the course team.
With Canvas Studio you can:
- Record short introduction videos with yourself using a webcam
- Create a screen recording of your PowerPoint, with or without your image included
- Create a screen recording of a tool or a walkthrough of your Canvas course, with or without your image included
- Save the recordings as MP4 files for backup purposes or for publishing on other platforms when needed.
- Upload and save a Zoom recording or other videos from your computer
- Easily add subtitles to your recordings
- Share your videos with colleagues or share collections with them

Access Studio
You can access Studio from Canvas’s global navigation menu. The service is activated the first time you click Studio in the menu. Studio provides access to your personal library, as well as features for recording, uploading, and sharing videos (see the video above, at 1:47).
Record with Studio
You can make simple recordings using Studio via Studio Capture, an easy-to-use screen recording tool that allows you to record your screen and webcam, among other things (3:10 in the video).
Share and publish
All recordings created in Canvas Studio are saved in your personal library and can be shared or embedded in different types of course content within your Canvas course. Alternatively, they can be saved locally on your computer as MP4 files and published on any platform of your choice.
