Summary of the guidelines
Docent is an academic title that signifies that the holder has attained a high level of scientific and pedagogical competence. At Karolinska Institutet, the Docent Committee assesses and appoints docents. Those appointed are expected to contribute to KI’s core activities through education, research and development work, and to ensure that the knowledge and expertise available at KI benefits society.
The guidelines cover, among other things, the assessment of eligibility for the docent title, the transfer of the docent title and the assessment of competence.
