KI course laboratories in the Scheele laboratory run by the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB)

The course laboratories in the Scheele laboratory run by the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics are specialized for teaching of experimental approaches in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, organic chemistry and biophysics and is staffed by trained supporting staff. The lab is a so-called specialized teaching facility, which can be booked for all education within KI.

Capacity and equipment

The laboratory can accommodate up to 80 students per teaching occasion.

Included when booking the course laboratories is trained support staff who can help with e.g. preparation before the lab, support during the lab, waste management and clearing up after the lab. 

The laboratories are equipped for laboratory education within a variety of fields such as biochemistry and chemistry. Equipment includes a variety of tools, such as

  • Large capacity fume hood, customized for laboration within organic chemistry
  • Spectrophotometers
  • Plate readers
  • Gas chromatographs
  • Scales
  • Water baths
  • Pipettes
  • Wide variety of laboratory glass-ware including specialized glass ware for organic chemistry
